Before playing poker, a player should know all the important facts about this exciting card game. Poker is not a card game of chance rather it's a game of efforts, intellect, deep understanding, calculating permutations and combinations, calculated moves, knowing probabilities, bluffing and deceiving. And so it demands a sharp brain, but also the sharp application of your mind to become the winner.

Poker is played with two or more players who place bets in a pot. The player with the best poker hand wins the pot at the end of the game. Players are supposed to bet when they have a good hand. Players who don't have good hands are supposed to fold to bets.

During each betting round, players have a choice of performing one out of four betting actions: check, bet or raise, call and fold.

Poker is played with a standard 52 card deck. Some poker games allow for using Joker as a wild card. Cards you are dealt decide your winning probabilities. Your poker hand and intellect to use those cards applying poker strategy on spot gives you an edge.

Some hands are always better than others. The lowest ranking hands are much easier to get over the highest ranking hands. This is where odds come in. The last kind of odds is 'edge odds'. Edge odds are used to calculate the performance of other players.
How to turn a terrible hand into a great hand? The answer is bluffing. Most players play contrary to the idea that he should play only when he has a good hand, attempting to be a cunning or deceptive player. This poker tip has been used by expert poker players from a long time. When you bluff, you smartly deceive other players into thinking you have a better hand. By doing so, other players may fold and give you a better chance of winning the round. One bluffing trick could be to increase your bet and raise other players. They will think that you must have a good hand and that perhaps they should drop out. This doesn't always work, however. You must effectively use you poker face.

The facial expression of the players sometimes do more trick than the other poker strategies. The best "poker face" is one that always remains unchanged. This way other players can never tell what kind of hand you have.
